What are Blogger static pages?
Blogger Static Pages allows you to create specific pages like About Me, Contact page, Privacy Policy etc. on stand-alone pages that are linked from your blog. The static pages basically are the same as post pages, but there are several things that make them different. One of the differences is that static pages don't appear in the home page, don't have a label, and are not indexed as archive pages.
How to Create Static Pages in Blogger.
Step 1. Log in to your Blogger Dashboard
Step 2. Click on Pages
Step 3. Click on New Page - Blank Page
Step 4. Type the title and write the page's content.
Step 5. Before publishing it, click on Preview to see how it will appear on your blog.
Step 6. When you have finished the editing, click on Publish button.
Step 7. Now you have 3 options:
Step 8. After you have chosen where the page will appear, click on the Save arrangement button
And now you're done!
Now you have owned the static page. If you want another static page, just repeat the steps above.
Note: if you have opted for Don't show option: go to Pages again and right click on the page's title and select Copy link location (in firefox). You can add the link manually to your sidebar via Link widget or add the link in your template, via Edit HTML.
UPDATE: Blogger made an update recently to the way that pages are added to blogs. Here is an updated tutorial that will walk you through the new process, step by step: How to Add Static Pages to a Blogger Blog

How recent is this post because my blog is from 2012 and I just can't follow your instructions because my blogger isn't laid out like this.
ReplyDeleteCould you post a newer version with pics using the new blogger layout. I'll give you an example. The only thing that I can see that I can do as far as "editing pages" is change the name of the page. I don't have the options you have above. Thank you so much.
DeleteHi Lola,
DeleteSorry for the late reply. I've updated my post for the new interface. Thanks for visiting!
Have you tried changing your template? did you notice that pages only seem to work with certain templates?
Deletehi , thanks for that , i wanna know how to publish a post in a specific page that ya created cuz we know that all what we publish go directly to home page but i wanna know how to publish in specific page like about me or news or whatever?? and thanks again
ReplyDeleteHi Yassine,
DeleteHere are some tricks you can apply:
1) give an unique label to each of your related posts, then put the URL of the label in the tabs of your blog so that each time your readers will click on the "pages" of your blog, they will be transfered to the list of posts for the page which they have chosen.
2) set up the pages shown on homepage to 0 (from Blogger's Dashboard click on Settings -> Formating -> Show at most - 0 posts)
3) set up a 'landing' page - add a text or an HTML/JavaScript gadget enter the text you want to appear on your homepage, then drag it just above the Blog Posts area.
Hope this will help you!
To hide the widget from post pages, follow the instructions here:

I have created pages on my blog, but the format of the home page has been copied to these pages. I don't want my picture on every page! How do I format the pages not to have the picture?
DeleteHi Admin, I've tried you're label solution and I don't see anywhere to enter the web address when I create a new page. Has anyone made a video on this?
DeleteHi Dave,
DeleteI've added a video tutorial that might help you. Please check it out.
Hi Lola - go into blogger settings and change back to old blogger format.
ReplyDeleteIf you already have existing tabs created by a designer, how do you link the page to that tab to make a "Static" or stationary page when someone clicks on that tab?
ReplyDeleteCan I create my static pages and save them until I have all of them lined up how I like, or do I have to publish each one as I do them?
ReplyDeleteYes, if you want to show them on your tabs or whatever, go at the Pages widget and deselect the pages you want to be hidden or the "Automatically add new pages when they are published" option. You can also drag them to change their position. You can check them back anytime to show on your blog.
DeleteI want to make my page static, which I have already set up as a forum. I want it to be the first and only thing that people see when they come to my site. I don't want them to have to click a button to get to it. Is there a way to make my page truly static without requiring any sort of click-through? This is September 2012 btw.
ReplyDeleteFrom your Blogger Dashboard, go to Settings > Search Preferences and look for Custom Redirects option, then in the From: box enter a forward slash - "/" and in the To: box enter the page name which is after the blogspot.com - for example yours would looks something like "/p/Forum.html" (you should add the slash before of it here too). Now thick the "Permanent" checkbox and click on the 'Save' link, then press the 'Save changes' button. Hope it works!
Deletemy web site gating a problem..... when i create new page it is not show..... always don't show......
ReplyDeletehow to show relevant posts in relevant pages with help of labels
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to create static pages that do not show up as tabs? I am trying to set up an arrangement of tabbed pages with the option of manually linking to "hidden" static pages that I don't want listed amongst my visible pages. I can't see anything in the Blogger Pages editor that allows me to have a mixture of visible and invisible pages.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I am looking for an answer to as well!
DeleteOK I'm finally getting to adding my static pages but in looking at my blog, I can't imagine how top tabs would be added or where they will go. I want tabs at the top but is there a way ato view them before actually posting them?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wasn't sure I understood your comment above. I want to create static pages but work on them, edit them and when completely satisfied with all the pages then post them. Am I able to do that? Or must they be posted as I create them?
Thank you.
Hi...I've been trying to work something out on my own but no luck and I'm not too good at explaining myself but here goes....
ReplyDeleteI have 5 topics across the top of my blog that my posts are relevant to ( one topic each post) I'm happy to have them come up on the home page but how do I also get them to open when someone clicks on one of the topics? So for my homemade section, I want to put all my creative and cooking posts in there also. It must be possible becuase I have seen it on others but I just can't work it out.....thanks so much :)
Thank you! This worked like a charm.
ReplyDeleteHi there. I am wondering, if you create a page and you want to have labels under the page instead of gadget like for example on this webpage http://crossfitmobile.blogspot.com/p/fitness-is.html. Under fitness page there are number of others pages. Just wondering how one would go about doing this in blogger. Spent loads of time trying to figure it out but with no luck.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

i want to create pages which come after clicking on home page items.plz reply..i`m waiting
ReplyDeleteHello! I'll look through your blog to see if I can find what I'm looking for, but I came across this post when searching, "how to have 2 post sections on blogger". I've tried the google forum but no one seemed to know what I meant. I can only seem to post "entries" on the main post section, but cannot add a second section of the same format (like how you can add multiple "pages" but they are all static).
ReplyDeleteGoogle forum said to create a "page" and choose "redirect to web address" and link it to a group of entries under the same label. My problem with that is that anything labelled will ALSO show up on the original "post" section, and I want it separate.
Hi i got my pages on side, but i want few pages to be on the top as tags.how to manually link pages on my blog?

ReplyDeleteYou can't publish a post in a static page but you can add a unique label to the similar posts and copy the label URL (to find it, right click on your label and select "Copy link location") and add the label's link to your top tabs: from your blog dashboard, click on Pages > New Page and choose "Web address" option, where you add the tab's title and paste the label's link.
ReplyDeleteHi admin, I created static page and put in the 'dont show' option as i dont want to display it in the top level. I gave link to that page from the home page. But when i am clicking that link, that page is not displayed and asking to sign in. why so...?hope u will reply..

Hi Abhi,

Hi, great post! I'm having a problem with my "pages" posts seeming like one long post and not separated like my posts on the "home" page. The comments on the "pages" are continuous and not designated to each post. Am I doing something wrong?

ReplyDeleteMy static pages are not getting edited, wat shud I do?Please help!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your post. I'm wondering, is there a way to make a single static page? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding something. On my old blog, I had the option to move my page to a "hidden" section in "pages". Now that I have created a new blog, I see that the option is no longer there. When I followed your directions, it hid all of my pages, instead of just one. Is there a way to hide just one page in "pages" as opposed to all of them? I still want my other pages to show up below my header, I would prefer to link my about me in my side bar. I can't seem to find help for this :(
Thank you for your time.
My blog only has 8 pages yet it won't let me add any more as it keeps saying I have reached my 20 page level...8 pages is NOT 20 pages! How do I override this to add other pages?
ReplyDeleteHi - great and helpful blog. I am facing a problem. I've created several pages on my blog, and they used to show, but they don't anymore. The frontpage with blogposts work out just fine, but the other pages won't load. What to do? Hope you or others are able to help me
ReplyDeletewow what a great tips thanks for sharing....
ReplyDeleteHi Admin,
ReplyDeleteI have a question. When I go to 'pages' > I can choose between 'Show pages as': Top tabs/Side links/Don't show. When I choose for 'Top tabs' and push on the 'Save' button 'Top tabs' changes everytime automatically in to 'Sidelinks'
Do you know what the is reason is for this switch? I would like to have Top tabs.
Hi, I'm having the same problem and I don't know how to solve it... So, for now, I chose the option 'Don't Show' and added manualy to my Menu. Unfortunately, the page created don't have it's name on the URL. For instance: I created a Contact page and the URL become 'p/blog-page.html' and not 'p/blog-page.html' instead of 'p/contact.html'.
DeleteCan you help me? Thanks!
Hi Admin
ReplyDeleteI have created static pages and pointed my labels to them to have posts with specific labels to show up on those pages. However when I publish a post with a certain label it shows up on my main page of posts as well as on the static page. Is there any way by which I can avoid this duplication?
i want to create a thank you page. but how do i create a static page in blogger but dont have it shown. is there a better way to do this?
ReplyDeleteI tried the same and it work perfectly .. thanks for this trick..
ReplyDeleteI am having a problem that was also posed by Barbara in January but I don't see that anyone addressed it then. I have had several static pages on my blog for a long time that have worked as they should, but just today I published one more page, but it isn't working right. The page shows up as a link in the list of Pages on This Blog, but the link takes you right back to the home page when you click on it - it doesn't go to the new static page. Why is this happening?
ReplyDeleteHow can I remove static page and have the blogger as usual showing the last post?
ReplyDeleteHow do I customized link instead of automatic calculation. I can't find the option any longer as I used to before.
ReplyDeleteHow Can I search based on the title of the static pages
ReplyDeletefor Ex, if my post contains label as mylabel, I can search like
www.testblog.com/search/label/mylabel
But if I want some posts not to be in home page (static pages) but a single link searching for a keyword in the static page titles should show all the pages containing the keyword in title
Thanks
I can create static page .But i want to know how, i can set static pages permalink?
ReplyDeletevery good information about pages, I have made a page but in the Url I am seeing only.page.html why it is happen

ReplyDeleteI can't get to Blogger.com. The following message appears on a blank web page when I try:

Great tutorial, but I'm having some problems with my labels properly redirecting to the correct static pages. For instance, I want all of my posts to appear in the "Home," tab, which they currently do. However, all those posts are also appearing under my "Fashion" tab, which is odd since I never tagged some of those posts with that label. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteLove this post, but I'm needing the "next step" so to speak
ReplyDelete~ I'm trying to edit the html of one of my pages. It's a "new page > web address."
I've entered the url I want to go to ~ all good. But I can't find how to edit the html to make that link open in a new tab. (I know the html: target-"_blank" but can't find where to put it.)
I've checked out the template> edit html area, but can't seem to find the reference to my page.
Can you Help!?
The page I'm working on is: pcachalice.com > "Free Introductory Afternoon" which links to http://www.pathoftheceremonialarts.org/IntroFlier2014.pdf
your help SUPER appreciated!
sincerely,
Hi Sally,
DeleteAdd the pdf address for your new page, then try to find this line in your template (Template > Edit HTML):
<b:loop values='data:links' var='link'>
And below it, you should see some lines starting with "<li><a expr:href="... look for the last one just before the "</ul>" tag and add the code in bold like this:
<li><a expr:href='data:link.href' target="_blank"><data:link.title/></a></li>
And Save your Template. Please make a backup of your current template before anything.
I hope this will work for you. Thanks for visiting!
Can you tell me how to put 2 or more posts under one particular page. For eg: Page Name: Beauty. and i wanna add posts such as "How to have the perfect Pout" and "Grow Healthy Hair" as two different posts on the sam page. I have already labelled the posts under the same page name For eg: Both the posts mentiond in the above eg are labelled as Beauty. Please help me with this!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I have my menu bar all set, top tabs menu displaying currently on the blog. But now I want to add a static page that will link to an image in my sidebar. ReplyDeleteCan anyone else no longer see the option to create web address link pages? I see the ones that I have previously created on my blog main page, but they no longer appear under pages and I can't create new ones. :S
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem on all my blogger blogs.
DeleteI have pages (tabs) appearing on my blogger blog, and want to edit them, but they are not appearing in the dashboard's options. My PAGES only shows 4 items available for editing or deleting, but there are actually 6 items appearing on my blog. How can you make them reappear in my dashboard/"My Blogs" page?
ReplyDeleteApparently the format changed, I was able to add, edit, and delete static pages in two manners.
ReplyDelete1) go to layout, and click on EDIT where it shows the PAGE TABS appear on your blog.
OR
2) Look at your actual blog (not from the dashboard). Where the little wrench appears on the right of your PAGES/TABS, click on that.
Either way, a BLOGGER CONFIGURE PAGE LIST window pops up.
1) REARRANGE the Pages by clicking on the left icon and dragging.
2) DELETE BY Clicking the "x" on the right side
3) TO ADD A NEW STATIC PAGE - At the bottom of the window click on ADD LINK PAGE.
4) TO EDIT EXISTING STATIC PAGE TITLE: No edit option. You have to delete entirely and re-add in order to "edit" wording for your tab.
hi i d love it if you could help me out with mine. i ve created different pages like news, downloads, contact me. how do i go about linking different post to different pages e.g i want to deliver post automatically to the download page instead of the regular homepage and news posts to the news section only. i hope you understand what i mean. ReplyDeleteHi Timmy,
DeleteFrom your Blogger dashboard, go to Layout and on the right side you should see the Pages widget > click on the Edit link... and take a look at this screenshot for more info.
